upstairs in the lounge: soul, funk and disco with BROTHER IN ARMS [J Boogie x Deejay Theory], SF JOHN STUART – Chillin Music, Milwaukee

Over the last 10 years, Orlando-based Chillin Music has had the pleasure of releasing music from such amazing artists as Roy Davis Jr, Pezzner, Daypayk Solo, Luke Solomon, James Flavour, and a massive group of other greats, including the stellar assortment of players we’ve assembled for you tonight, on both floors of Monarch.

The funkiest brother we know, a man like DIZ will be making his way in from Chicago to lead our celebration. Joining him are Bay Area youngster, ARDALAN (dirtybird), and the illustrious SLEIGHT OF HANDS [Monarch/Green Gorilla’s own DJ M3, + Phil Rene] Expect a healthy dose of Jack, Bass, and Garage to fill your Friday night with Funk.

Opening support from Chillin Music founder ROB SLAC, and SF’s STILL ROB G.

is crafting the soundtrack to our evening and you don’t even know it yet. A natural collaboration between San Francisco-based friends/DJs/Producers J Boogie and Deejay Theory, the well-seasoned duo come loaded with vibes ready to light up the night. Blending equal parts slowed house, deep disco, modern and classic R&B, their sound is something like Grace Jones making love to Todd Terje — and we’re not mad at that.

BIA saw their first endeavors on a limited edition 12″ via Whiskey Disco, as well as official remixes on Heavy Roc for DJ Equal, and Win Music for Eric Sharp ft. Anna Lunoe. Debut performances as a DJ duo have included support for Oliver, Classixx, Moon Boots, Poolside, Jimmy Edgar, B Bravo, Danny Daze and more. Their edits have quickly caught the attention of DJs worldwide, with plays on BBC Radio 1, KCRW, KEXP and WFMU. Previous works were included on David Heartbreak’s acclaimed “Moombahsoul” compilations.
